New England: Rightful Favorites or Dynasty on the Verge of Crumbling?

As was to be expected, the Pats are facing the best odds by BetNow sportsbook of the bunch. However, considering they’re coming off a Super Bowl loss, should we really be backing New England? Ultimately New England might be more like LeBron than the Golden State. What I mean is that although they have a great shot of making the Super Bowl, it seems extremely unlikely that they’ll come out on top. For starters they just blew their shot. Secondly, Tom Brady isn’t getting younger. Thirdly, we saw some drama brewing in the organization. From friction arising from Brady’s use of his personal trainer, to Robert Kraft forcing Belichick to get rid of Jimmy G. We all know Belichick didn’t like this one bit, seeing as how we suspect he leaked the drama. So, with those doubts in mind, what are some better options for next year’s Super Bowl predictions?

NFC: Green Bay Packers

At the current moment, the Green Bay Packers seem like a great Super Bowl sports betting option. Not only do they have what many consider to be the best quarterback in the league, they also made some offseason changes that let the entire organization now they’re on the hot seat. And how could they not be? After all, they’ve had Rodgers for the last 7 years and haven’t even a made a Super Bowl appearance. With great talent comes great expectations and the Packers, as an organization, have failed to deliver. You can’t place the blame on Rodgers, who has some of the best numbers the league has ever seen and is consistently a leader amongst the NFL’s best quarterbacks. Ultimately the Packers’ woes can be blamed on their poor defense, lack of a running game, and lack of strength in the offseason.

However, the Packers recently made some staff changes that could have some good implications. Dom Capers was let go and Mike Pettine was brought in. Pettine has plenty of experience but the real impact he’s had is on the defense’s morale. If you need some prove just watch how excited Pro Bowler Mike Daniels is when talking about the new system.

On top of that, Green Bay’s 2017 problems will pave the road for their 2018 success. We all remember how pitiful they looked when Rodgers went down with an injury. But in the end, his absence shined a light on how mediocre this team was. They couldn’t run the ball, they couldn’t stop the run, and they couldn’t get opposing offenses off the field. Last year they managed to improve their running game and those improvements should ripple into the 2018 season. So, what out for the Green and Gold in 2018.

AFC: Pittsburgh Steelers

Yea it seems silly to pick the Steelers since they also wield one of the oldest quarterbacks in the NFL. But that veteran experience should work to Pittsburgh’s advantage. And ultimately, it’s what will ensure this team gets there.

At the end of the day, Pittsburgh has all the pieces in place to mount a Super Bowl run. Roethlisberger is a tried and true quarterback who will undoubtedly be a 1st ballot Hall of Famer. Moreover, Roethlisberger should have no problem delivering big numbers considering who he’s throwing to. Antonio Brown is a top-3 receiver in the league and rookie tight end Jesse James came into his own last season. Not to mention Le’Veon Bell in the backfield. Granted, Bell has had friction with the franchise due to not receiving enough money, so we’ll have to see how that pans out.

Lastly, their defense is top notch. If defense wins championships the Steelers should at the very least have a great chance of winning it all last season.
