The Washington Redskins vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers game may not be a marquee matchup, but early in the season this is shaping up to be important for each team.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers started off with a big win against the Carolina Panthers and then fell flat on the road against the Giants and the Cowboys. The Buccaneers played well enough to win in both games but could not play a complete game.
The Washington Redskins are in a similar position. Rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III made a fantastic debut in a big road win over the New Orleans Saints, but has failed to win a game since. The Redskins lost to the Rams on a bad penalty to finish the game and then were beaten handedly a week ago at home against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Buccaneers have opened as (-3) point favorites in this NFC tilt for Sunday. Online sportsbook Just Bet, has the current spread on this game and is giving out a very nice 185% bonus to new signups along with a free entry to a $10,000 contest.
If defense wins ballgames, the Buccaneers have the edge. The Redskins are missing key members on defense and that was quite obvious in the game against the Bengals. The Buccaneers will be able to promote the ground game with Doug Martin and control the clock. Josh Freeman will manage a solid game and play a methodical offense that will keep the ball away from RG3 and the Redskins
The Redskins are 15-32-4 against the spread (ATS) when playing a team with a losing record, 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games on grass, and 1-4 ATS in the last five games overall.
The Buccaneers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating less than 250 total yards in their previous game and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games in September. The Bucs are back at home and will get the win with defense over a road weary Redskins team.
