The Pittsburgh Steelers are consistently one of the best teams in football and are always in the mix for a shot at the Super Bowl. This year the Buffalo Bills are being looked at as a team that could surprise this year and make the playoffs.
So if you think the Bills will make the playoffs, you can bet on them at Bovada and get a decent profit if they pull it off. If the Bills are going to make the playoffs they will need to beat some of the better teams in the NFL, like the Steelers.
The Bills are still fine tuning their entire team. They are getting off to slow starts with the first team on the field in the preseason. The Bills have been outscored 23-9 in the first half thus far. One of the reasons for the slow start is the injuries and inconsistencies on the offensive line.
Right tackle Erik Pears, one of the team’s most pleasant surprises last season, is questionable for the season opener due to a groin injury. Pears’ injury has forced second-year pro Chris Hairston to the right side and out of a competition at left tackle with rookie Cordy Glenn. That essentially gave Glenn the starting job by default.
Along the interior of the line, C Eric Wood is making his way back from a torn ACL and has been limited throughout training camp. This has put a strain on the Bills and has affected their performance on the field in the preseason. Head coach Chan Gailey is not concerned with winning exhibition games and that is evident by his 3-7 record in preseason games as coach of the Bills.
For the Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that his starters on both side of the ball would play the first half of the game, but gave no indication of his quarterback rotation.
The Steelers have plenty of depth at running back. Rashard Mendenhall is out with an injury but Isaac Redman will serve as Pittsburgh’s primary running back and Jonathan Dwyer has looked impressive in his few stints in the backfield.
Mike Wallace will be joining the team after sitting out most of camp due to a contract dispute but don’t expect to see him on the field for this game.
The Steelers are one of the most popular bets for week 3 of the NFL preseason. Checking the latest sports betting consensus numbers, the Steelers currently have 61 percent of the public backing. They may be on to something.
Tomlin likes to win in preseason, especially in game three. Tomlin has never posted a losing record in the preseason posting an impressive 17-6 record since taking over the helm for the Steelers. Tomlin is 4-1 in his last five games in week three of the NFL preseason and an incredible 9-0 in the last two weeks of the NFL preseason during his coaching career.[poll id=”31″]
The Bills are still putting it all together and the Steelers will be looking to notch a victory in this game.
