Betting the Book
The sportsbooks opened up the Browns as favorites and this does not happen often. The early betting lines track the progress of this line. The Browns started as (-3.5) favorites and that number has dropped to (-3) with early betting. 68% of the money is being bet on the Browns as they believe that the Browns are the better team at home. The marks the first time that the Browns have been favored in 3 years and the first time since Hue Jackson took over as head coach.
You have to appreciate rookie quarterback Sam Darnold. He has had some bad plays in both games that he has started, but he has shown the ability to forget the bad plays and fight to the end. Things could get tough against a Browns defense that has stymied veteran quarterbacks like Ben Roethlisberger and Drew Brees. To make matters worse the Jets have a short week to prepare.
Browns Bogged Down
The Browns have played well on defense, but when making the New York Jets vs Cleveland Browns predictions you have to consider both sides of the ball. On offense, Carols Hyde is only averaging    2.8 yards per carry and that has made this Browns offense one dimensional. The Jets have an incredible pass rush and they allowed 122 net passing yards a week ago against the Dolphins.
New York Jets vs Cleveland Browns predictions and pick
This should actually be a good game. The Browns have issues on offense and to make matters worse they recently signed a rookie kicker, Greg Joseph. He converted 57 of 82 field goal attempts in college, not a number that actually inspires confidence. Isiah Crowell returns to Cleveland as a Jet and he should have plenty of running room. He goes against a Browns run defense that allows 110 yards per game. It’s tough to back the Browns as they are just 7-19 against the spread (ATS) in the last 26 home games. The Jets are 7-3-1 ATS in the last 11 games against the AFC and have covered 4 of the last five games after a loss. The Jets are tough to back on the road, but the Browns always find ways to lose a game.
