Handicapping who will win the MVP can be difficult because the star player could come from any

Eli Manning won in 2007 with a victory over the Patriots in 2007 and Tom Brady won the award twice in 2002 and 2004. This explains why Brady is the favorite to win the award at 13/10 and Manning is second on the list at 9/4.

Outside of the quarterback position, the most recent position to bring home the hardware is the wide receiver. Santonio Holmes won the award three years ago when the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals and before that Hines Ward and Deion Branch also won the award. Either a quarterback or a wide receiver has won the MVP in the last eight years.

So in the Super Bowl for this year several key weapons on both teams have a decent shot of winning the award. For New England tight end Rob Gronkowski leads the way with 8/1 odds but he is not the only Patriot that has odds to win this trophy. Aaron Hernandez and Wes Welker both check in at 15/1.

For the New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz leads the way at 12/1 and not too far behind him is Hakeem Nicks (15/1) and Ahmad Bradshaw (22/1).

Although it is rare, a defensive player can easily take home the MVP. In the past such defensive names as Ray Lewis, Larry Brown, and Richard Dent have won the award. Jason Pierre-Paul for the Giants is the favorite to win this award and his odds are at 30-1, a nice payday for a shot on defense. The Patriots defense was one of the worst in the league this year and that is reflected in the odds as four players are listed at 100-1 to win the award led by Vince Wolfork.

The MVP award is one of the most prestigious awards in the NFL and picking the winner for this Super Bowl could prove to be difficult, however when in doubt, take the quarterback.

The odds are on “No” for this prop but anything can happen with Madonna. She was born in Michigan but has strong ties to New York and it would not surprise me if she embraces the experience with a football jersey. Halftime shows usually involve many wardrobe changes, so why not take a shot with a good payday.

Here is a look at the trends for Super Bowl XLVI and which ones may help in predicting the outcome.

Super bowl betting trends

When it comes to the playoffs the Giants are red-hot and it shows in the trends. The Giants are a perfect 8-0 ATS in their last eight playoff games as underdogs and 8-1 ATS in their last nine playoff games overall. This trend is legitimate since it shows that the Giants play well as underdogs in big games and are on a hot streak.

The Patriots have an opposite trend heading into the Super Bowl. The Pats are 1-6 ATS in their last seven playoff games as favorites and it shows covering as chalk has not been easy of late for the Patriots. They are also 1-3-1 ATS in their last five Super Bowls. That number is less relevant. The Patriots may not be a safe bet in the Super Bowl based on that number, but the Patriots had completely different teams for Super Bowl sin the past.

The same could be said for head-to-head meetings between these two teams. The Giants are 5-1 ATS in their last six meetings and the underdog is 5-1 ATS. This can be almost completely ignored. The Giants beat the Patriots this year and that is important, but 5-1 in the last six meetings dates back to far to be useful in this game.

The Giants have some positive trends that come into play for the Super Bowl. The Giants are 5-1 ATS in their last six games on turf and that is vital because it indicates that the Giants use the turf to utilize their speed for an advantage. There are several other trends that show a strong indication of just how hot the Giants are.

The Giants are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a win straight up and against the spread. They are 5-0 against the number in the last five overall and 13-4-1 ATS in their last 18 games as an underdog of three points or less.

The Patriots have trends that do not seem to be very useful in this spot. For instance the Patriots are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games after failing to cover the spread in the last game. This is useful in the regular season because it indicates that the Patriots rebound after playing poorly. This is the Super Bowl so the Patriots will be prepared and not have any let down in this event.

When it comes to the total, the over is obviously favored by football betting fans and the trends support that. For instance the total has gone over in 24 of their last 32 games when the Patriots are favorites. It should be noted however that the Giants have a slew of under trends in their favor.

The Under is 4-0 in Giants last four games on turf, 8-2 in Giants last 10 playoff games, and 5-1 in Giants last 6 games overall.

Trends are very tricky and can be used incorrectly by many handicappers who will hunt down trends in hopes of supporting their selection instead of researching trends to find an angle that will help in selecting a winner in the upcoming Super Bowl.

Final prediction: Giants 33 Patriots 20

The New York Giants are the hot team coming into the big game and they have ripped off several impressive victories to get to this point to include wins over two of the best teams in the NFC in Green bay and San Francisco.

Many were very surprised when the odds opened up with the New England Patriots as three point favorites.

Eli Manning is playing better football than any other quarterback in the league, yes this includes Tom Brady. This pressure will allow the Giants to keep linebackers back in coverage to cover the tight ends.

The wrong team is favored in this game and the Giants are going to use that underdog role to their advantage to inspire them to a big performance on the biggest stage of them all. Eli will officially enter the “elite” category with his second super bowl victory and the MVP trophy.

Super Bowl Prop Bets: Heads or Tails?

For those of you that don’t know, here is the definition of the prop bet. In football gambling, a proposition bet (also known as a side bet, prop bet, prop or exotic bet) is a bet made on an outcome or a proposition of the game that could involve many different aspects of the game.

One of the most popular of these proposition bets is the coin toss. It is one of the easiest prop bets to wager on because you only have two choices, heads or tails.
