NBA Odds For January 5th
Let’s take a look at the latest odds for Friday night in the NBA. The first thing that jumps off the page is that the Celtics are only (-4) point favorites against the Timberwolves. The Celtics play great at home and just beat the Cavs, so this seems a bit on the low side. Because of that line early public betting shows that the public is pounding the C’s at an 81% clip. Let’s get right to the picks, because this game is on the top of my list for the NBA Picks for January 5th

Minnesota Timberwolves at Boston Celtics
The public is overlooking just how good the Wolves are and how big that win over Cleveland was for Boston. All the talk now is about how big that win was and not about how they will do against the Timberwolves. The Wolves are off a loss but are still 7-2 in the last nine games that they have played. The Celtics have failed to cover against the spread (ATS) in 8 of the last ten games after a straight up win. The public is going on the Celtics, which means I am on the Wolves.
Toronto Raptors at Milwaukee Bucks
Somehow the Raptors are one-point favorites in this game. They have won three straight but they are much different on the road. The Bucks are looking for a revenge for a 4 point loss just two games ago when they played in Toronto. The Raptors are 0-4 ATS in the last four games against a team with a winning record, while the Bucks are on a perfect 4-0 ATS run in the last four games overall. DeMar DeRozan scored a franchise high 52 points in the last meeting, but that won’t happen again. Bucks play defense and get the win at home.
Washington Wizards at Memphis Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies are focused on winning this game. Not only will it be featured on national television, but this will be the only game that they play in the next seven days. The Wizards are a much different team on the road as they have only covered once against the spread in the last five attempts. The Wizards always struggle in this venue as they are 3-8-1 ATS in the last 12 games in Memphis. The Grizzlies are happy to be home after a long road trip during the holidays and will get the win.
Charlotte Hornets at LA Lakers
If you want to win betting on the NBA then take a team who just got embarrassed. That is what happened in LA as the Lakers suffered a 30 point plus loss. Kyle Kuzma called out his team publically and if this team has any heart it will show on Friday against the Charlotte Hornets. The Hornets are just 14-23 on the season and 5-9 ATS on the road and they are favorites in this game? That is an overreaction to the Laker’s big loss. The underdog is 20-5-1 ATS in the last 26 games between these teams and the Lakers have covered four of the last five games against the Eastern Conference. Bet on the Lake Show!
