Okay ready for the picks? The theme for this week is simple. Overreaction. It happens every year.
Thursday Night NFL
Baltimore Ravens vs Cincinnati Bengals
Let’s start with Thursday night. Last week I nailed the early game and I am at it again this week. This is a big game so I have a full-length article with a preview and free pick against the spread. Ravens vs Bengals pick.
Cleveland Browns vs New Orleans Saints
The big news is that the Browns are parting ways with Josh Gordon, but there is more to talk about. Is the Saints defense that bad? They got torched in week one and the Browns played well enough to get a tie. The opening odds on this game were very interesting. This huge point spread would normally attrat action on the browns, but it has been the opposite with over 60 percent on the Saints pushing this line to double digits. The Browns will build off the tie and Tyrod Taylo has what it takes to keep the Browns close in this game.  The underdog is a perfect 5-0 against the spread (ATS) in the last five meetings. I’m backing the Browns again this week.
New England Patriots vs Jacksonville Jaguars
Okay wait. The Patriots are just (-2) against the Jaguars? You’re telling me that if I want to win betting on the Patriots, all I have to do is basically get them to win the game? This is the sucker bet of the week. The Jags have covered seven of the last ten games against the spread when playing a team with a winning record. They have an incredible defense and they become the favorites to win the AFC with a win over the Pats
BONUS PLAY: Jaguars 7 to 1 to win the AFC. If you think they win (and they will) then now is the time to bet the Jags to win the AFC. You will lose some value when they pull off this win.
Carolina Panthers v Atlanta Falcons
This is a big overreaction game. All the talk about the Falcons is that the offense is busted. Not even close and in fact they usually do better the next time out. The Falcons are 21-9 ATS in their last 30 games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game. The Panthers looked good in the opener but the loss of Greg Olsen will hurt this team. Not a strong play but you have to expect that the Falcons will rebound with a win.
LA Chargers vs Buffalo Bills
The Bills are about to be a team that everyone bets against every week. Overreaction. They are still an NFL team and they are still decent. The Chargers travel coast to coast this game after getting torched at home and they are being asked to cover 8 points on the road? The home team is 6-1 ATS in the last seven games in this series and that proves that travel is an issue. Hold your nose, this one stinks.
