New York Jets vs Detroit Lions
I think Sam Darnold is going to be great and I think the Jets will have a decent season. However, I am not as confident as the public that is backing Darnold to play well in his first NFL game on the road. Matt Patricia had a way of making young quarterbacks look bad during his time in New England and we can expect more of the same in this game.
Matthew Stafford is one of the most underrated signal callers in the game. He has a deep receiving core with Golden Tate, Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay. The Jets have a strong secondary and an impressive defense, but they don’t match up well in this game. The Lions are 5-1 against the spread (ATS) in the last 6 games on Monday night. The Jets are just 2-6-1 ATS in the last 9 road games.
The Monday night lights will be too bright for Darnold as the Lions win and cover.

LA Rams vs Oakland Raiders
The Rams look like Super Bowl contenders. The Raiders have started their first season off under Jon Gruden mired in turmoil. The Raiders shipped off Khalil Mack to the Bears. The Rams are delighted that they will not have to face him in this game. The Raiders GM said that it was a devastating blow to the team to trade Mack and that has pushed the public to bet on the Rams. Nearly 70% of the football bets are on the Rams and this line is up to five points.
When a team goes through a big change it is up to the coach to get them prepared for the first game. Gruden could silence his critics with a win over the Rams to start off the season. The Rams are notorious for slow starts. The Rams are 16-37-1 ATS in their last 54 games in September and 4-13 ATS in their last 17 games in Week 1. Gruden will have the coaching edge over his protégée and the Raiders are 4-1-1 ATS in the last six Monday night football games. The Silver and Black will shine on Monday night!
