New Orleans Saints vs Atlanta Falcons
The Saints and the Falcons go head to head on Thursday night football game that will be a decisive factor on how the NFC South turns out. The Falcons opened as (-2) favorites and that line quickly flipped after the results from last week. Now I can bet a quality home team getting points in a must-win game? Yes please.
Indianapolis Colts vs Buffalo Bills
The Bills have announced that Nathan Peterman will get the start against the Colts. This is just one of the factors to consider in this game. The weather may also be an issue as snow is in the forecast. The Colts are a great team off a loss as they are 32-16 against the spread (ATS) after a straight up (SU) loss. The Bills have failed to cover in four of the last five games and that loss against the Patriots was a back breaker.
Chicago Bears vs Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals will have to get ready on a short week as they host the Chicago Bears in week 14 of the regular season. The Bears seem to be better when they are underdogs the when they are favored. The Bengals are off a physical game and should be in letdown mode for this meaningless game. The problem is the Bears are 0-4-1 ATS in the last five overall and 1-5 ATS in the last six road games. This is really a pass for me, but since I pick every game, I’ll take the Bears. Not a strong play, but just too many points.
Green Bay Packers vs Cleveland Browns
Is this the week that the Browns finally win? They covered last week so many experts are pointing to this week as the week the Browns get in the win column. The Browns are just 2-8 ATS this season, but we are sticking with them again in this game. The Packers need Aaron Rodgers back and will be shut down by the Browns defense.
Oakland Raiders vs Kansas City Chiefs
Although the Raiders and the Chiefs are having vastly different seasons it is always interesting when these teams do battle on the gridiron. This game is essentially for first place and the Chiefs need to get out of this freefall. The Raiders have looked better of late against bad teams, but they get a step up in class against the Chiefs. The Raiders have not covered on the road in four games and the Chiefs have covered 7 of the last eight games against the AFC West. The Chiefs finally wake up.
Dallas Cowboys vs New York Giants
The Giants are a team in turmoil and they will not be in the NFL playoffs, but they would love nothing more than to play spoiler and beat their divisional rivals in the Dallas Cowboys. They fired their coach and Eli Manning will be back under center which will give this team something to play for. The Cowboy struggle on the road against the Giants where they are 5-11-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings. Giants win!
Detroit Lions vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
If you are a Detroit Lions fans you are very concerned about the health of Matthew Stafford. There is no way to bet on this game without knowing his status. If Stafford is healthy the Lions are the play with a playoff berth on the line.
Minnesota Vikings vs Carolina Panthers
The Vikings win over the Falcons was huge and they are now on a serious winning streak. They have a defense that ranks second in the league in scoring. However the Panthers need this win and playing on the road in three straight weeks will be taxing. The Panthers are 5-1 ATS in the last six games following a loss and they beat the road weary Vikings.
San Francisco 49ers vs Houston Texans
The Houston Texans loss last week was devastating as they will miss the playoffs unless they have plenty of other things happen. The 49ers are not the best team in the world but they are excited about how Jimmy G brings hope and an offense to this team. The 49ers have actually covered the last five out of 7 games on the road and they will win this game outright as the Texans sleep walk through the game. Look for Bill O’Brien to be fired at the end of the season if they lose this game.
New York Jets vs Denver Broncos
This is the time of the year when you will get NFL games featuring two teams that are not going to make the playoffs. Although the Jets and the Broncos are playing out the string, it does not mean that there is no reason to watch and wager on this game. This is a perfect spot to back the Broncos. They are off an ugly blowout loss and the Jets are off an upset win. There is no reason for the Jets to be motivated for the Mile High trip. The Jets are 1-4-1 ATS in the last five road games and the Broncos win big.
Tennessee Titans vs Arizona Cardinals
There are some sharps out there that are willing to back Arizona because they are still playing tough. This is still a difficult place to play despite the fact that the Cards are having a bad season. The Titans have problems beating teams with losing records as they are 7-25-3 ATS when facing teams with a losing record. Mariota will have fits against this Cards defense.
Washington Redskins vs LA Chargers
If the Redskins want to remain in the playoff hunt, they are in a must-win situation as they head to the west coast to take on the LA Chargers. Luckily they have extra rest since they played on Thursday night the week before. The Chargers are getting all the love because they are paying well but they are just 7-20 ATS in the last 27 home games. With no true home field advantage, I’ll take the Skins.
Philadelphia Eagles vs LA Rams
In the game of the week in the NFL, the Eagles and the Rams face off in what could be a sneak peek of the NFC Championship game. The Rams get to try their shot at the Eagles and they get a chance to prove that they should be mentioned in the same breath as the Eagles and the Vikings. They show it in a big way. The Eagles weak spot is that they are 1-4 ATS in the last five road games against teams with a winning record.
Seattle Seahawks vs Jacksonville Jaguars
The Seattle Seahawks get a dose of their own medicine as they travel coast to coast to take on one of the best defensives in the game. Nothing lines up for the birds in this game. Off a big win, tough travel spot and they have a weak offensive line that will be dominated by the Jags.
Baltimore Ravens vs Pittsburgh Steelers
When the Ravens and Steelers meet on the football field it is always a black and blue affair as these teams do not line one another. This is the game that the Ravens have circled. They have a cush schedule all the way out and want to win this game. Steelers on a short week looking ahead towards the Patriots with a banged up Antonio Brown could be trouble. The Ravens are 10-2 ATs in the last 12 against the division and get a big win in this game.
New England Patriots vs Miami Dolphins
What looked like a crucial matchup in the AFC East at the start of the season is now a sorry game on Monday night football. The Patriots take on the Dolphins just weeks after blowing them out and covering as (-17) point favorites. Rob Gronkowski is suspended for this game and that will make the Patriots shorthanded for this game. The Patriots have a history of falling down late in the season in South Beach. The Patriots my win but it will be close.
