2013 San Francisco 49ers Preview

The San Francisco 49ers lost the Super Bowl a year ago and now they will be focused on finishing the job and securing the Vince Lombardi Trophy when they take to the field this season. With one of the best coaches in the league in Jim Harbaugh and a boat load of talent, is there any reason to believe they won’t pull off the run at the title? 49ers fans have high hopes but they may end the year disappointed.

2013 San Francisco 49ers Predictions

The San Francisco 49ers had a great season a year ago but it did not stop them from vastly improving in the offseason. With a bevy of draft picks the 49ers were in a position to trade and they did just that. The 49ers worked a deal with the Ravens and brought Anquan Boldin aboard. Boldin will have an immediate impact as he takes over for the often injured Michael Crabtree.

But most of what the Niners did was on defense. Glenn Dorsey is an upgrade over Jean Francois, but they also added Tank Carradine to the defensive line. While Carradine might not be fully healthy for some time, he might be Justin Smith’s heir. In the meantime, I expect the 49ers to show more 4-3 looks with Carradine at defensive end and Dorsey as a penetrating 3-technique, which is what he was drafted to do coming out of LSU. The first problem that they may encounter is the tough schedule.

Here is a look at the upcoming schedule for the 2013 San Francisco 49ers.

2013 San Francisco 49ers Predictions

Colin Kaepernick is off a nice rookie campaign, but quarterbacks have a tendency to struggle in their sophomore season. If defenses figure him out the 49ers offense could have trouble putting up points. The schedule starts tough and the 49ers could stumble out of the gate with tough games against Green Bay and Seattle.

The expectations are sky high for this team and although they will make the playoffs, don’t look for a runaway season for the 49ers.
