2012 Chicago Bears: Schedule Breakdown and Prediction

The Chicago Bears have all of the right tools to be one of the best teams in the NFL this season. The NFL Over/Under totals were released a few weeks ago and the opening number on wins for the upcoming season for the Bears is 8.5. Since that number was released it has moved up and can be found at BetOnline sportsbook at 9 (+105).

In an earlier article, Bookie Blitz covered every team. Here is a quick look at the Over/Under predictions for the 2012-2013 NFL season for every team.

Are the Bears Ready To Win it All?

The Bears had a chance of making some noise in the playoffs a year ago but injuries to quarterback Jay Cutler and running back Matt Forte quickly derailed any chance of going deep into the playoffs. The Bears have had one of the most successful offseason of any team in the NFL, and they are back in 2012 ready to compete once again.

Cutler is healthy and focused once again and the Bears have dramatically improved his weapons on offense. The Bears started by trading for troubled wide receiver Brandon Marshall. Despite his troubled past, Marshall has always put up good numbers on the field and he has a history with Cutler at quarterback. This move went unnoticed but is huge for an offense that needed a weapon. Marshall has impressed so far and is rubbing off on current wide receiver Devin Hester. The Bears were not done with Marshall as they continued to add offensive weapons.

The Bear realized they would have contract issues with Matt Forte, so they signed Michael Bush to fill any void that would be left by Forte. Forte would be smart to play this year and the acquisition of Bush will only help Forte and the Bears offense. The Bears were not done as they turned to the NFL draft to grab wide receiver Alshon Jeffery out of South Carolina. Jeffery is so highly touted he is listed at +1800 to win the offensive rookie of the year at BetOnline. Jeffery can learn alongside Marshall and Hester and automatically upgrades a Bears offense that was in need of weapons at the wide out spot.

The defense of the Bears is aging but they are still very talented and ready to play at an elite level. Not only is the Bears worth betting at over 9 wins (+105) but they should get consideration for winning the NFC (+1400) and a shot at the Super Bowl (+2500).

In the end this is a team that can win this division and head to the playoffs with a shot at representing the NFC in the Super bowl.
